Last weekend the Senior Men and Women were in league and cup action.
Saturday 26th October 2024 Rugby Review:
On Saturday for the second time this season the Senior Men’s squad fielded 3 sides despite a number of players being unavailable due to holidays and injuries.
A big thank you to all the hard work in putting the 3 sides together especially Andy Bailes, Chair of Men’s Rugby, Alexander Cook, Neil Baggett and Owen Flischer.
The Men’s 1st XV hosted High Wycombe in their latest Tribute Southern Counties North League match looking to bounce back from the defeat the previous week against the league leaders Oxford Harlequins.
Windsor had a much changed side due to injuries and unavailability. It was also a very young and inexperienced side with only 3 players in the starting line up being over the age of 25.
High Wycombe started the match very strongly opening with a try which was converted within the first five minutes.
The signs were looking worrying as it was evident that High Wycombe were a well organised side.
As the first half progressed Windsor’s game became more fluent and they soon reduced the deficit when they scored a try following pressure on High Wycombe’s try line.
The first half continued to be a tight affair and at half time the home side had a slender lead. Windsor 19, High Wycombe 18.
The second half continued to be a tight affair with Windsor increasing its lead by an additional 7 points with a converted try. High Wycombe continued to be competitive and it was looking like the match still could go either way.
Windsor then scored a further try and the flood gates opened with Windsor scoring further tries, with High Wycombe scoring one of their own and in the end it was a comfortable victory by 47 points to 23.
Try scorers Harry Bicknell, Joe Treigaardt ( 2 tries) Billy Porter ( 2 Tries), Conor Ball and Ben Grant- Adamson. The latter scoring the final try to make his 150th game for Windsor 1stXV memorable.
Windsor now sit in fourth place in the league behind Oxford Harlequins 2nd XV, Chinnor 3rd XV who are both unbeaten and Buckingham.
Parfitt Cresswell Player of the Match – Billy Porter:
The Men’s Dev XV travelled to High Wycombe to play 2nd XV in their latest BBO Counties 3 League Match with a side that had only been finalised that morning. The Dev XV secured a resounding victory by 52 points to 17, with Player of the Match Samson Turner- Stewart scoring 2 tries, 6 conversions, a penalty and a drop goal.
The Men’s 3rd XV played Tadley 2nd XV in their BBO Counties 4 league match. With both the Men’s 1st XV and 3rd XV games being well supported on the touchline the Men’s 3rd XV had a good win winning by 33 points to 19.
The Men’s 3rd XV are top of their league!
With all three sides winning their league fixtures, which was the first time this had happened since COVID players are now all really looking forward to the rest of the season with optimism.
Ben Grant Adamson receives his 150th Cap Award.
After the match Ben Grant- Adamson who started playing rugby in the Minis was presented with a leather ball by last season’s captain Chris Emmett and current captain Allen Crawshaw for playing his 150th Match for Windsor RFC 1st XV.
On behalf of the club, many congratulations on reaching this milestone !

On Sunday Windsor Dames travelled to play Becs Belles in the Papa Johns Women’s Community Plate. The game was a walk over as Becs Belles were unable to field a front row and had therefore to default the match. The game still went ahead as a friendly with Becs Belles winning by 26 points to 12.
