Saturday Rugby Review:

Last Saturday Windsor RFC again were able to field 3 sides with the Men’s 1st XV, Dev XV and 3rd XV all in league action.

The Men’s 1st XV travelled to play Wallingford RFC in their latest Tribute Southern Counties North knowing that a victory would secure promotion as one of the six best Runners Up in Level 7 in the RFU League pyramid.

Wallingford RFC has always been a difficult place to get a result and the match turned out to be a scrappy affair with neither side being able to play any fluent attacking rugby.

Wallingford opened the scoring kicking a penalty after a Windsor infringement. Windsor soon retook the lead with a George Moran try which was converted by Ben Grant- Adamson to give Windsor a 7 points to 3 lead half way at half time.

During the second half Windsor were able to put some phases of good attacking rugby which resulted in two quick tries from Samson Turner- Stewart and Joe Triegaardt. Both tries were converted by Ben Grant- Adamson to give the away side a healthy lead by 21 points to 3.

Wallingford did not give up after a period of forward play scored a try, which was not converted to reduce the deficit to 13 points.

Windsor went in search of their fourth and bonus point winning try. It was fitting that the last try was scored by Vice Captain Ben Grant Adamson after a break by Captain Allen Crawshaw to secure the win and promotion. Ben converted the try. This was the final score of the match.

The Men’s Dev XV played Farnham Royal in their latest Counties 3 BBO League Match at Home Park in a competitive match won by 38 points to 25. The Men’s Dev XV play their last home league game against Reading Abbey 2nd XV and have a great chance of finishing third in their league.

The Men’s 3rd XV travelled to Oxford to play Gosford All Blacks 2nd XV in the Semi Final Cup of the Counties 4 BBO League. The side were hopeful of making the final but came up against a much stronger side losing by 45 points to 26.

The Men’s 3rd XV season has now come to end but they still have plenty to celebrate winning the Counties BBO 4 League title and will receive a league winners Shield in the near future.

Sunday Rugby Review:

Last Sunday the Senior Women travelled to Regents Park to play league leaders Belsize Park Women and put in a committed performance with only a squad of 15 players and lost by 39 points to 7.

Report written by Olivia Brooke, Women’s Social Media Manager.

Windsor Dames took on league leaders Belsize Park RFC Women in a tough encounter, but despite the scoreline, the team put in a performance to be proud of. From the opening whistle, Windsor showed grit and determination, working hard in defence and refusing to make things easy for the opposition.

Belsize Park’s attacking strength was evident, but Windsor matched them with resilience, putting in crucial tackles and fighting for every breakdown. Even as injuries took their toll, forcing Windsor to play with 14 players for periods of the game, the team continued to battle, showing real heart and unity.

In attack, Windsor built some great phases and cracking breaks through the Belsize’s defences and were rewarded with a well-deserved try by Sharon Richards, who powered through to get over the line. Beth Jefferies then stepped up and slotted a superb conversion, ensuring Windsor got points on the board for their efforts.

While the result didn’t go our way, this match showed how much we are growing as a team. There are plenty of positives to take forward, and we’ll be back at training, ready to build on this performance.

On to the next one—let’s go, Windsor!

Parfitt Cresswell Player of the Match: Maddy Warnes.
