Last weekend the only sides in action was the Senior Women after the Men’s 1st XV withdrew from the Papa Johns Cup due to the low number of players available following a long and successful league campaign.

The Senior Women’s fixture was their Papa Johns Community Plate Semi Final against Okehampton RFC Ladies. This was always going to be a difficult fixture as Okehampton are top of their NC2 Women’s league and had only lost one match this season and will be promoted at the end of the season.

Once the game kicked off in front of a good home crowd boosted by a large contingent of Okehampton travelling support it did not take long for Okehampton to score the opening try as they had a very youthful, athletic and speedy back line which was going to be very hard for the Windsor Dames to compete against.

Although Windsor matched Okehampton in the forwards and in the set pieces , the Dames found it very hard to combat the additional speed of the away side.
The Dames put in a very committed performance and did not give up but lost by 100 points to 10, a scoreline which other sides had suffered at the hands of Okehampton RFC Ladies.

The Senior Women’s season is still not over and they have two important NC2 South East ( North West) league matches to play. If they can win both these matches it would be a good end to the 2024/2025 season and give the Senior Women the foundation to build for the 2025/2026 season.

Parfitt Cresswell Player of the Match: Sarah Coward.
