The adverse weather conditions meant that all rugby activities were cancelled at the weekend apart from the Men’s 1st XV league match against Bracknell 2nd XV.
On behalf of the club I would like to thank both Bracknell RFC and Maidenhead RFC for allowing the game to played at Maidenhead after Maidenhead’s 1st XV League match against Bracknell 1st XV.
Conditions on the night were far from ideal with the very cold well. In addition the match was very keenly contested as Bracknell 2nd XV fielded a much stronger side that is currently languishing at the bottom of the Tribute Southern Counties North League table.
In the first half both sides made handling errors and Windsor were unable to get in any fluency to their game.
Windsor opened the scoring in the first half with a Kieran Ghafadgi try which was converted by Ben- Grant Adamson to lead by 7 points to nil.
Bracknell ,before the half was out, replied with a converted try which meant that the sides were level 7 all at half time.
The second half started in a similar vein. Fortunately Allen Crawshaw was able to increase the side’s lead with a try under the posts.
A third and fourth try then followed with debutant scrum half Epeli Takensenilagi ( ‘Teki’) and centre Luke Budd both crossing the Bracknell try line.
Both tries were converted by Ben Grant- Adamson.
Final Score Bracknell 2nd XV 7 Windsor Men’s 1st XV 28
Parfitt Cresswell Player of the Match Luke Budd.
The Men’s 1st XV have now consolidated their second place position behind league leader Oxford Harlequins 2nd XV, who they host this Saturday at Home Park.
This has the prospects of being a mouth watering game and will also act as a good benchmark on how the side has developed since their loss to the same opponents earlier in the season.
I know that coaches and players will appreciated any support on the touchline as they have a number of very difficult home and away games to navigate if they are going to secure promotion at the end of the season.
