WINDSOR RFC Men's Section

I am delighted to announce that following the Men’s 1st XV hard fought victory away at Wallingford, promotion is now confirmed.

Although we are not champions of Southern Counties North we are promoted due to our playing record being in the top 6 in the country.

On behalf of the club, I would like to congratulate Chair of Senior Men’s Rugby Andy Bailes, the coaches Andy Symons, Jack Warren, physio Ollie Brown, Club Captain Allen Crawshaw and Vice-Captain Ben Grant Adamson and all the players of the Men’s Senior Squad including the Dev XV and its captain Alexander Cook on this achievement.

To play 21 matches win 18 matches and secure promotion with one game to go is tremendous. The highlight was the home victory over champions Oxford Harlequins 2nd XV.

It was great shame that 2 of the losses against Buckingham and Bletchley could easily have been wins as both games were lost in the final minutes.

Planning must now start for the 2025/2026 season as Level 6 will be big step up and as a club we need to be ready for this new challenge. The club will need a strong Men’s squad and a management structure to ensure that we can have a strong Men’s 1st XV and Dev XV to compete at this level.

The last home game on Saturday April 5th 2025 will be a Club Day to celebrate the promotion and the achievement of the Men’s squad with the Dev XV having a chance to secure third place in their league and the Men’s Third XV winning their respective league.

It’s time for the club to celebrate as ‘one club’ especially as over 70% of the First Team squad are home grown and have come through the Minis and Juniors at Windsor RFC.

Both Men’s 1st XV and Dev XVs will be playing Reading Abbey.
